What is a Client Task?

Client Tasks make it easy for you, the accounting professional, to send and track requests sent to the client for information. For your client, Client Tasks make it easy to respond and know what answers and items you are still waiting for. In Client Hub the process works like this:

  1. The accountant creates a Client Task to request information from the client or remind them of a task.
  2. The client submits the response or acknowledgement
  3. The accountant reviews the response and accepts or denies it.

All users can add comments to Client Tasks to ask questions or provide clarification.

Client Task Types

To ensure that you receive the type of response you want, we have created specific Client Task request types as follows:

  • To Do  - You can use this Client Task type to remind your client of tasks they need to complete. When you need your client to collaborate on a report, spreadsheet, or document, include a sharable link to the item from your Google Drive, Dropbox, or Sharefile account.
  • Yes / No - This makes it easy for the client to provide a clear, concise answer to a simple question.
  • File Request - Request files from your clients such as bank statements, receipts, documents, etc...
  • Accept  / Decline - When you get a verbal (or email) request from a client, use this request type to clarify and get written confirmation of understanding. You can also use this request type to send information to your client and ask them to Accept to confirm they received and/or read message.
  • Open Text - When you need more that just a yes or no answer, use this request type to allow your client to provide a full written response.

Client Task Templates

You can create Client Task templates to reduce the need to manually create the same requests over and over again. A Client Task template can contain 1 or more Client Tasks. Use Client Task templates for weekly or monthly reminders, requests for bank statements, new client onboarding information, etc...
